Restore or fix your LG phone and tablet by flashing stock TOT firmware package

You want to know what format the stock rom for LG phone and tablet? Generally either KDZ file, or TOT file, as being avowable firmware package.

Of course, you probably have long known how a local LG firmware package to be easily flashed.

However, any way, I will talk about the flash of LG TOT firmware file in this article. Well, any way, the guide is only a reminder of what you already know.

Although for most of us, manually flash a stock rom can be unusual, it’s something you can learn to become fulfilled with in time. Actually, it is more than just flash a stock firmware, with it, you can easily fix or restore it if you get some problems like boot loop on your LG phone and tablet.

Then we start looking for something flashing.

Preparatory Work

Flash TOT Firmware

  • Unzip LG Flash Tool, you will get an EXE program file called Setup_LGFlashTool_1.8.1.1023.exe, double click on it to install it to your computerSetup.LGFlashTool.1.8.1
  • Unzip your rom file, you will get the main TOT firmware file and the proper DLL file
  • Copy your MegaLock.dll file to X:\LG\LGFlashtool folder, Yes when prompted to replace existing file
  • Please enable USB debugging on your LG phone or tablet
  • Power off your LG phone or tablet fully
  • Reboot your LG phone or tablet to Download or Firmware Update mode, you can usually do it by connecting your LG phone or tablet to your computer when pressing and holding down Volume Up and Volume Down keys or only Volume Up or Volume Down key
  • Go to Device Manager on your computer, if you don’t know how to do, please refer to this guide
  • From Device Manager, click on the Ports (COM & LPT) option to unfold it, you will see the LGE Mobile USB Serial Port (COM4) or similar itemLGE.Mobile.USB.Serial.Port.Device.Manager
  • Right click the LGE Mobile USB Serial Port (COM4) or similar item, select Properties to open LGE Mobile USB Serial Port Properties window, please click on the Port Settings to unfold Port Settings pageLGE.Mobile.USB.Serial.Port.Properties.Window
  • Click on the Advanced… to open Advanced Settings for COM windowChange.COM.PORT
  • Change COM Port Number: to COM41, Click on the OK to confirm
  • Disconnect your LG phone or tablet from computer
  • Power off your LG phone or tablet fully again
  • Reboot your LG phone or tablet to Download or Firmware Update mode again, you can usually do it by connecting your LG phone or tablet to your computer when pressing and holding down Volume Up and Volume Down keys or only Volume Up or Volume Down key
  • On your computer, double click on the LGFlashTool icon to run LG Flash ToolLG.Flash.Tool.1.8
  • You have now opened LG Flash Tool, you will get two window, one is main LG FlashTool, another one is Model Config sub-window. And the Model Config sub-window is in front, on this it is the currently active windowLG.Flash.Tool.model.config.window
  • On Model Config window, tick Select Manual Mode option, select your model DLL file like LGD820SVC_20131106_LGFLASHv181.dll by clicking on the icon to the right side of DLL section, select your TOT firmware package like xxxxx.tot by clicking on the Add button to the right side of S/W section, then click on the OK in the right corner of window to confirmLG.Flash.Tool.model.config.Manual.Mode
  • You are now back to main LG FlashTool window, start your flash by click on the yellow arrow icon in the upper-left corner of the windowLG.Flash.Tool.main.window.flash.button
  • Wait for the flashing process is completed
The Notes
  • If the flashing process has not begun after clicking on the yellow arrow icon, please try to reconnect your LG phone or tablet to computer, then restart your flashing
  • Please do not close the LG FlashTool window during firmware package flashing
  • If you see FAIL information after 85% of the process, and your LG phone and tablet is just rebooting, then please don’t worry about it, it’s OK
