How to boot Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus into Download Mode and Recovery Mode

Think about the latest Android flagship, you no doubt think about the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ manufactured by the Korean giant Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 series are the newest productions of the South Korean company. Both have a friendly and elegant interface and superb hardware. Samsung has always put the Download Mode and Recovery Mode on the latest phones. As you may know, Samsung has removed the Home button on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Then, you may have one question, how should we enter the Download Mode and Recovery Mode without the Home button on Samsung devices? You know, until now we enter the Download Mode by pressing Power, Home and Volume Down buttons at the same time, and simultaneously press Power, Home and Volume Up buttons to Recovery Mode. Don’t worry, in this post, I want to talk about these two topics of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

Boot Galaxy S8 into Download Mode

  • Power Off your Galaxy S8
  • Press and hold Power, Bixby and Volume Down buttons at the same time
  • The following screen will display a warning sign in EnglishGalaxy.S8.warning.screen
  • Press Volume Up button to continue, your phone will enter into Download Mode (Also called Odin Mode). At this time, if you press Volume Down button, your Galaxy S8 will be rebootGalaxy.S8.downloading.mode

The Download Mode is especially useful for Samsung users who want to install TAR file with Odin flash tool, such as install stock firmware package. After entering into Download Mode, if you wan to get out of it, just simultaneously press and hold Power and Volume Up for around 8 seconds, your Galaxy S8 will then start normally.

Boot Galaxy S8 into Recovery Mode

As an Android user, we should know about Recovery Mode, because it will help you in many situations. For example, you can reset your phone, you can wipe cache partition, and much more. Of course, if you have a Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+, you need to know about it.

  • Power Off your Galaxy S8
  • Press and hold Power, Bixby and Volume Up buttons at the same time
  • Please release all the buttons when you see the blue screen
  • Your Galaxy S8 will enter into Recovery ModeGalaxy.S8.recovery.mode
  • You can press Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to select a item and press Power button to confirm your selection when you are in the Recovery Mode
